HerdGuardby NightVyper LLC
Early access · Pilot phase

AI-assisted predator and animal detection for internet-connected farm cameras.

HerdGuard, a product of NightVyper LLC, helps farms, ranches, poultry owners, and rural property owners turn camera captures into structured detection events, alerts, and reviewable history.

Cloud-assisted analysis · still images, not video · internet-connected camera zones only

  • Internet-connected farm cameras
  • Still-image detection
  • Cloud-assisted analysis
  • Human review and event history
  • Dataset-first roadmap
The problem

Cameras give you visibility. Owners need awareness.

Hardware alone doesn't reduce predator pressure. Operators need structured events, careful alerting, and a history they can review and defend.

Blind spots are everywhere

Coops, pens, barns, gates, and remote pasture corners are easy to miss until something goes wrong.

Footage isn't awareness

Most cameras record clips for later playback. They don't generate structured detection events you can act on.

Records are scattered

Owners need timely notifications, fewer missed events, and a searchable history of what actually happened on their property.

The solution

Turn camera captures into structured detection events.

HerdGuard is the cloud-assisted layer on top of cameras you already operate. It is designed to get more useful as your verified events accumulate.

What HerdGuard captures for every event

  • Image references and timestamps
  • Camera, site, and zone metadata
  • Detection labels and confidence scores
  • Alert decisions and delivery status
  • Human review outcomes and corrections

Every captured event becomes part of a property-specific record and, with owner consent, contributes to a verified dataset intended to improve detection over time.

The camera is the sensor

HerdGuard’s value sits in the cloud: image analysis, alert rules, event history, human review, and the dataset that grows around your property.

Designed to improve over time

Reviewed events refine alert thresholds and, on the roadmap, support a HerdGuard-trained model tuned for the species, lighting, and terrain typical of your land.

How it works

From a captured image to an actionable, reviewable event.

A simple four-step pipeline. Still images, cloud-assisted analysis, structured events, and human review — built around internet-connected camera zones.

  1. 01

    Camera captures still image

An internet-connected farm camera sends still images to HerdGuard on motion or schedule. No video streams are required.

  2. 02

    Cloud-assisted analysis

Each image is analyzed for predator and animal activity using a cloud-assisted vision pipeline.

  3. 03

    Rules create event history

Detections pass through property-specific alert rules. Matching events are stored with metadata, confidence, and outcomes.

  4. 04

    Owner reviews and corrects

You receive an alert, review the event, and confirm or correct it. Verified outcomes feed the long-term dataset.

Use cases

Built around how rural properties actually operate.

HerdGuard focuses on internet-connected camera zones where structured detection and a reviewable event history matter most.

Poultry & peafowl protection

Designed to help watch coops, runs, and roosting areas where loss to predators is most common.

Barn & pen monitoring

Adds a structured awareness layer to high-value enclosures and feeding areas.

Small livestock areas

Intended for activity tracking around goats, sheep, and other small-livestock paddocks.

Rural driveway & property zones

Captures activity at long driveways, gates, and property approaches with internet-connected cameras.

Predator activity logging

Helps build a defensible record of when, where, and how often predators appear.

Property-specific dataset building

Reviewed events become a verified dataset tuned to your land, species, and lighting.

Technology & roadmap

A phased path from cloud-assisted MVP to a HerdGuard-trained platform.

HerdGuard is currently in early development. Initial deployments are designed for internet-connected camera locations. Future roadmap items may include hybrid inference, edge AI options, additional connectivity kits, and proprietary model development.

  1. Phase 1

    Cloud-assisted MVP

Still images from internet-connected farm cameras are analyzed by an external inference provider. HerdGuard handles event creation, alert rules, and history.

  2. Phase 2

    Human validation

Owners and operators review and correct events. Confirmed outcomes form a structured, verified dataset for each deployment.

  3. Phase 3

    HerdGuard model side-by-side

A HerdGuard-trained model runs alongside the third-party vision provider for evaluation and gradual hand-off on supported categories.

  4. Phase 4

Hybrid inference & edge AI options

On-device inference for supported camera classes is evaluated as a roadmap option where it meaningfully reduces latency, cost, or bandwidth. Not part of the current MVP.

  5. Phase 5

    Commercial platform & API

Multi-site management, partner integrations, and an API for farms, ranches, and rural-tech partners.

Inference is currently performed by an external vision provider. The provider name will be disclosed when a finalized commercial relationship permits.

Why HerdGuard is different

A platform, not a product page.

The camera is the sensor. HerdGuard is the cloud-assisted layer that makes a sensor worth deploying on a working property.

Not just a camera

HerdGuard does not sell hardware as the answer. The platform is designed to make the cameras you already have more useful.

Structured event database

Every detection is a record — searchable, reviewable, and exportable.

Property-specific alerting

Rules account for your zones, schedules, species of concern, and risk tolerance.

Human review workflow

People stay in the loop. Reviewed events drive better future detections.

Verified detection history

A defensible, time-stamped record of predator and animal activity on your land.

Long-term proprietary model

We're collecting the dataset that supports a HerdGuard model trained on real, verified rural events.

Built around rural / agricultural use

Designed for farms, ranches, and small operators — not generic perimeter security.

Early development · pilot

NightVyper LLC is developing HerdGuard as a cloud-assisted detection and alerting platform for agricultural and rural property use cases.

HerdGuard is designed to help collect structured image and event data, support human review, and improve detection workflows over time. The platform sits on top of internet-connected farm cameras and turns their captures into reviewable, defensible records.

We are intentionally narrow in our early-stage claims: cloud-assisted analysis on still images, internet-connected camera zones only, and a dataset-first roadmap. Built-in cellular/WAN hardware, off-grid deployment, on-device (edge) AI, and video processing are not part of today’s offering — they are roadmap considerations, not present-tense features.
